Learning Outcomes and Application | This unit describes the outcomes required to prepare and dress boards and timber. The unit includes evaluating and monitoring dressing conditions and processes; and setting, adjusting and maintaining equipment. Work is completed in a forest products factory setting.The unit applies to Sawmill Worker, Production Worker, Timber Products Worker. No licensing, legislative, regulatory, or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication. | ||
Duration and Setting | X weeks, nominally xx hours, delivered in a classroom/online/blended learning setting. The following resources must be made available: tools and equipment used to dress boards and timber: moulder jointer/buzzer or thicknesser machine incorporating splitting saw planing machine moulding machine maintenance tools and equipment consumable components; cutters, saw blades personal protective equipment suitable for dressing boards and timber a diverse, comprehensive and commercial product range of timber boards manufacturers’: instructions for equipment use recommendations for cleaning, repairing and maintaining work order with specific details of: material to be dressed special client requirements production timelines template documents for recording production outcomes and equipment faults organisational procedures for dressing boards and timber relevant personnel for the purposes of communicating information. Competency is to be assessed in the workplace or a simulated environment that accurately reflects performance in a real workplace setting. Assessor requirements Assessors must: hold the appropriate assessor competency standards as outlined in regulations; and be able to demonstrate vocational competencies at least to the level being assessed; and be able to demonstrate how they are continuing to develop their VET knowledge and skills as well as maintaining their industry currency and assessor competence. |
